Paint Project continues--restored, refreshed, renewed

The painting project for the inside of our home is progressing nicely. The living room walls are finished and the room we call the “computer/office room,” is completed. The completed rooms have indeed taken on a brand new look and is restored, refreshed and renewed. It is bright and radiates peace. The next room that is being restored, refreshed and renewed is our bedroom. My son discovered some damaged areas that needed to be addressed and restored. The window framing around the two windows were never finished. The area around the window were rotting badly. He had to make new wooden framing for the two windows, place them in and seal them with caulking, sand the dried caulking into a smooth finish and then paint the window framing. It looks very nice and professionally completed. In the bedroom only one wall and closet need to be painted. He thought this shouldn't take very long-one wall-a piece of cake. Right? However after removing all the clothing and other items from the closet, he discovered yet another disaster. The closet walls and framing were hanging together by a toothpick. He also discovered a whole in the closet wall where mice droppings covered the area. He cleaned the area throughly, placed insulation in the whole and replaced the one wall in the closet. He had to rebuild the closet completely and then paint it. As I write this, it all sounds so easy but it took a lot of time and patience. I am so thankful that our son wants to address all the issues that have come up in this painting project with so much diligent care and professionalism. I must admit if I was the painter, I probably would have been pulling my hair out---wanting to close the paint can never to paint again and chalk it up to a painting nightmare. But thankfully, my son is the painter and is taking the 'bitter with the sweet' of this paint project one step at a time. It reminds me of that saying: If 'life hands you a lemon—make lemonade'—there has been some wonderful lemonade created in this paint project—for that I am grateful. Stay tuned for updates!
