a mountain out of a mole hill
“I will cut a road through all my mountains, and make my highways level.” Isaiah 49: 11
Sometimes instead of seeking God's help with the mountain of problems
facing me, I decide to attempt to pole vault over them myself. I usually imagine the worse outcome of a situation and entertain all kinds of thoughts of dread and doom. As I obsess over them, they loom bigger and bigger and become too overwhelming. As I shared
my looming problems with a friend, she gently reminded me, “It seems to me you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.”
I sure did not want to hear these wise words and wanted to dismiss them by saying but this is different this is really quite big. But thankfully the Holy Spirit stopped me and I
began to reevaluate the problem looming over me. I took a break and began to ask Jesus to calm my fears and bring peace again to my heart.
After a short period of allowing the Holy Spirit into the situation, I began to see some common sense solutions unfolding before my eyes. It truly was not a mountain but just a small mole hill
that I could deal with one step at a time.
I also began to realize
that God is in the mountain moving business even if it is just a mole hill to be moved. Sometimes He allows the mountain of a problem to remain with me but He makes a road through the problem that I never knew was there before. Sometimes God asks me to go
around the mountainous problem and that He will take care of me and the mountainous problem in His time and His way.
I am so grateful to you, Holy Spirit, for sending me wise friends to help me on my journey. “Sing out, O heavens, and rejoice, O earth, break forth into song, you mountains. For the Lord comforts his people, and
show mercy to his afflicted. “ Isaiah 49: 13
