The song, “I Never Promised you a Rose Garden” is from the 1970s. It is something I say occasionally,
“God didn't promise me a rose garden when troubles come my way.” What did God promise us?
God holds out the promise of eternal salvation for each and everyone of us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John
Our Lord and Savior is the Way, the Truth and the Life. To be a
follow of the Master requires that we daily surrender it all it Jesus and trust that He will take care of us. Jesus will never forsake us or leave us. God's promises to His people are as numerous as the stars. However, along with His promises, there is persecution,
trials, tribulations, and thorns that cut and hurt deeply in this life.
God our Father gives us all that we need to live a life of joy and peace in the midst of our trials and tribulations. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you
walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Isaiah 43: 2
When you are feeling overwhelmed with trials and difficulties, break open the Scriptures and read about all the uplifting promises of God. God did not promise us a rose garden but He did promise us a garden filled with joy, peace,
love and hope in the midst of the thorns in this life. Always remember in the midst of our sufferings, our destination is Heaven with God forever. Something to ponder everyday.
Lord Jesus nothing can shake my inner calm for to You I'm clinging. “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has
compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10
