“Going to hell in a handbasket” means to go to one’s doom, to deteriorate quickly, to proceed on a course to disaster.” This ‘saying’
was first used during the American Civil War. In America today, with the coronavirus and now the protest turning to rioting, violence and needless death of innocent people it seems to me America is on a course for disaster.
It is very difficult for me to watch much of the news because it deeply breaks my heart that there is so much hate going on today. The Evil One is causing so much hate in people’s hearts which
allows them to continue on this hateful path of destruction.
In their hearts, the protesters want their voices to be heard. It is a good thing to peacefully stand up for injustice.
However, those with evil in their hearts are going about seeking to destroy and kill. It is a good thing to stand up, speak up and pray for all life from the moment of conception to natural death. It is good to improve the training of our police departments.
It is good to weed out potentially ‘bad cops.” But it is terribly sinful and insane to continue on this downward path to destruction. This is from the pit of hell itself.
In contrast, I and many other faithful Christians
have been standing in a peaceful prayer vigil at Planned Parenthood for the mothers, fathers, babies and abortion workers. It is a good and just thing to do. We do so with hearts focused on loving and caring for all God’s children in a peaceful prayer
We need God back in America again. So many Americans do not believe in God but are bowing down before creatures rather than worshiping their Creator. “They exchanged
the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.” Romans 1:25. I don’t know about you but I only knee before my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ- nobody else.
How am I to respond to the mess America is in? How are you going to respond to this course of disaster we are on? You and I need to commit to praying for the conversion of hearts in America
especially the powerful prayer of the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. We need to beg God’s mercy to transform hardened hearts. Let there be peace again in America and let it begin with me.
I weep for our Country. I know in my heart of hearts God our Father is weeping as well. God is love and it is only God’s love that can perform a heart transplant for America and its people.
I will never quit praying for those souls who have lost their way in the hope that God can crack their hardened hearts and pour His healing mercy and love upon them. Jesus Christ is our only hope. “Create
in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10
