Today is the feast day of the Queenship of Mary. (August 22). At the 9 am Mass today at the Cathedral, the organist played beautiful songs to Mary. I closed my eyes to listen to those songs. I was thanking Our Lady for her motherly
care of all her children.
Jesus Christ is our King and so Mary is our Queen Mother. She is Queen not only because of her Divine Motherhood of Jesus Christ, but also because God has willed her to have an exceptional role in the work of eternal salvation.
“Mary, the Queen Mother, is the one we turn to. Not just because the Bible says so, not just because the Church teaches it, but because we need her.” Dr. Scott Hahn.
Today, I am so grateful to my mother who instilled in
me to pray the Rosary. Growing up, I thought it was silly, and an old women’s prayer. But behind the scenes, my mother faithfully prayed countless Rosaries for my conversion. It wasn’t until I had the honor of caring for my mother the last 18 months
of her life, that the Rosary became my go-to-pray daily. After my mom’s death, I grew closer to Mary.
Today, I love our Blessed Mother and know I can count on her to care for me and intercede for me and all my prayer intentions. Mary knows
what it’s like to watch her son Jesus suffer as a sword of sorrow pierced her heart. Mary knows how to comfort her children when they suffer as well. Mary has brought me to a closer relationship with Jesus. You just can’t get any better
“From Mary we learn to surrender to God’s will in all things. From Mary we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone. From Mary we learn to love Christ her Son and the Son of God!” Saint Pope John Paul II
